Why Do Head-on Crashes Often Lead to Severe Outcomes?
Intersections and two-way roads, like those along Highway 2, can pose risks when vehicles cross into opposing lanes. Even brief lane departures can have direct consequences, especially when both vehicles are moving at regular roadway speeds.
Head-on crashes often involve a strong force because both vehicles are traveling toward each other. This can increase the chance of serious injury, particularly on roads without physical barriers separating directions of travel.
Road layout, visibility, and driver awareness all affect how these crashes happen. Clear lane markings and staying attentive to traffic direction can help reduce the risk of vehicles entering the wrong lane.
