Why Seat Belt Use Matters in Rollover Crashes
Seat belts help keep occupants secured inside a vehicle during a crash. In rollover incidents, the risk of being thrown around or ejected from the vehicle can increase without proper restraint. This can lead to more severe injuries, even in crashes involving a single vehicle.
When a vehicle rolls, the force can shift quickly in different directions. Being restrained helps reduce movement in the cabin and may lower the risk of serious injury. Rollover crashes can happen when a driver loses control, especially on rural roads or at higher speeds. Wearing a seat belt is one of the simplest ways to improve safety in these situations.
