Central Point, OR (March 24, 2026) – A vehicle crashed into the Central Point Goodwill store on Sunday morning, March 22, leaving at least two employees injured. Emergency units responded to the scene at 1249 Plaza Boulevard, near Albertsons, around 10 a.m. The crash impacted the section of the building used for production operations.
Two employees were taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, and at least one remains hospitalized. The driver involved was cited for careless driving. Officials said the crash occurred after the motorist mistakenly accelerated forward instead of reversing from a parking spot. The store remained closed on Sunday but reopened on Monday, with visible exterior damage.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash, and more details will be released as soon as they become available. Our thoughts are with those affected as they continue to recover.
How Accidents in Buildings Can Happen
Collisions with commercial buildings often occur in parking lots when a driver misjudges gear selection or pedal pressure. Even low-speed impacts can cause significant structural damage and injure employees nearby. Safety measures, such as clearly marked parking spaces, protective barriers, and speed reduction signs, can reduce the likelihood of such incidents. Drivers should remain attentive while maneuvering near storefronts, especially in areas with pedestrian activity. Vehicle inspections and awareness of brake and accelerator functions can also help prevent accidental acceleration events, which are common in low-speed, close-quarters environments.
