What Factors Can Increase Risk in Pedestrian Crashes on State Routes?
Longer roadway stretches near State Route 273 may encourage higher speeds, especially in areas outside city centers. In Redding, injury incidents in these locations often require extra attention to scene visibility and traffic control.
Pedestrian crashes on these roads can happen when drivers do not expect foot traffic. Limited lighting during early morning hours can make it harder to see someone near or crossing the roadway.
Speed differences between vehicles and pedestrians can increase the severity of injuries. Road design, lighting, and driver awareness all influence how safely these areas are shared.
