What Factors Contribute to Serious Crashes on Rural Highways?
Crashes on rural highways like A-58 can be particularly severe due to higher travel speeds and limited roadway lighting. Drivers may also encounter narrow lanes, curves, or unexpected obstacles that increase the risk of losing control.
Emergency response times can sometimes be longer in rural areas, which may impact outcomes in serious crashes. Investigators typically review speed, road conditions, and driver behavior when determining the cause of these incidents.
