Pleasant Prairie, WI (April 3, 2026) – Two people died after a residential fire early on Thursday morning, April 2, in Pleasant Prairie.

The fire was reported around 2:40 a.m. in the 2600 block of 116th Street. Emergency units arrived to find active flames coming from the home and forced entry after learning that people were still inside.

Responders located a 34-year-old woman and a 73-year-old man inside the residence. Both were taken to area hospitals, where they were later pronounced dead. Officials said the victims are believed to be father and daughter.

Crews brought the fire under control by approximately 3:43 a.m. Investigators later examined the scene to determine how the fire started.

No additional details about the cause have been released. The incident remains under investigation.

We extend our sincere condolences to the families of the deceased victims.

What Happens When Crews Respond to Early Morning House Fires?

Roads near residential areas like 116th Street often serve local traffic and nearby homes. When serious fires occur in Pleasant Prairie, responders typically secure the area while working to reach those inside.

Early morning fires can be especially dangerous because occupants may be asleep and unaware of the danger. This can delay evacuation and increase the risk of severe outcomes.

Fire crews often enter structures quickly when there is reason to believe people are inside. Conditions such as smoke, heat, and limited visibility can make these rescues more difficult while crews work to control the fire and search for occupants.
