Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash, and more details will be released as soon as they become available. We extend our sincere condolences to the family of the deceased.
What Can Affect Pedestrian Safety on Multi-Lane Roads
Pedestrian crashes are more likely on multi-lane roads where traffic moves in multiple directions. Crossing multiple lanes can increase the time a person is exposed to moving vehicles, raising the risk of being struck.
When crosswalks are not used, drivers may not expect pedestrians to be in those areas. This can reduce reaction time, especially at night or in busy downtown settings.
Lighting conditions, traffic speed, and road design all influence how safely pedestrians can cross. Wider roads often require greater awareness among both drivers and pedestrians to reduce the risk of collisions.
