What Factors Can Affect Pedestrian Safety at Intersections
Intersections can present risks for pedestrians, especially when vehicles are moving through multiple lanes. Drivers may be focused on signals or other traffic, reducing awareness of people crossing.
Visibility at night can also make it harder to see pedestrians in time to stop. Lighting conditions and roadway design can influence how easily someone is noticed.
Using crosswalks and staying alert can help improve safety, while drivers slowing down near intersections can reduce the chance of serious crashes.
