How Do Left-Turn Crashes Occur at Busy Intersections?
Left-turn crashes often happen when a driver misjudges the speed or distance of oncoming traffic. Turning across active lanes requires careful timing, especially in areas with steady vehicle flow.
At busy intersections, multiple lanes and signal changes can make it harder to assess safe gaps. A vehicle turning left may be struck if an oncoming driver has the right of way and cannot stop in time.
Passenger injuries can be more severe in these types of crashes due to the angle of impact. Visibility, reaction time, and traffic volume all influence how these collisions happen.
