Copiague, NY (April 24, 2026) – A man was killed in a hit-and-run crash on Vespucci Avenue in Copiague late Thursday, April 24, at around 10:45 p.m. The victim was lying in the roadway when he was struck by a northbound vehicle.
A 2011 Honda Pilot hit the man and kept moving northbound before turning left onto Dixon Avenue. The driver did not stop. The crash occurred between Dante Avenue and Dixon Avenue.
The victim has not been identified. Detectives believe he was Hispanic and in his late 30s. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The suspect vehicle was later located in Copiague and impounded as evidence.
