Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash, and more details will be released as soon as they become available.

How Head-On Collisions Involving Large Trucks Can Become Critical
Head-on crashes often result in severe injuries because the force of impact comes from two vehicles moving toward each other. When one of those vehicles is a large truck, the difference in size and weight can increase the severity of the crash.
Efforts to avoid collisions, such as sudden lane changes, can sometimes lead to new risks if opposing traffic is present. Split-second decisions made under pressure may change the direction of a crash but not prevent it entirely.
Roadways without barriers between directions of travel can raise the risk of these types of incidents. Maintaining safe following distances and reducing speed in slowing traffic can help lower the chances of a serious outcome.
