Why Motorcycle Crashes at Busy Intersections Can Be Severe
Motorcyclists have far less protection than people inside cars or trucks. When a rider is hit by a larger vehicle, the impact can cause serious injuries, even at lower speeds.
Busy intersections can add more risk because drivers may be turning, stopping, or moving through several lanes at once. Traffic signals, crosswalks, and lane changes can all affect how vehicles move through the area.
Crashes that damage power poles can also create extra hazards. Crews may need to check electrical equipment, clear damaged vehicles, and control traffic before the intersection can fully reopen. Flashing signals may remain in place while repairs or safety checks continue.
