What Happens After a Stop Sign Crash in New York State?
Stop sign violations are among the more common causes of intersection crashes in New York. When a driver fails to come to a complete stop, the risk of a collision increases sharply, especially during early morning hours when traffic patterns can be unpredictable. Wayne County roads, like many rural routes in the region, rely heavily on stop signs rather than traffic signals to manage intersections.
After a crash like this, investigators typically review skid marks, vehicle positions, and witness accounts to piece together what happened. These details help establish which driver had the right of way. In New York, failure to stop at a stop sign can result in fines and points added to a driver’s license, depending on the outcome of the investigation.
