Chicago, IL (April 29, 2026) – A multi-vehicle crash involving a tractor-trailer shut down northbound Interstate 57 on Tuesday morning, April 28, on Chicago’s South Side.
Illinois State Police said the crash happened around 7:55 a.m. near Halsted Street. Officials were working to determine why a semi-truck crashed into several other vehicles.
The northbound lanes of Interstate 57 were blocked around 9 a.m. The closure caused delays while emergency units responded and crews worked to clear the scene.
Emergency units transported four people injured from the scene to the nearby hospital.
The crash remains under investigation, and additional details may become available as authorities continue their review.
