What Drivers in Missouri Should Know About Rear-End Crashes on the Interstate
Rear-end crashes on busy interstates like I-29 are among the most common types of collisions in Missouri. They often happen when traffic slows or stops suddenly, and drivers behind them fail to react in time. Speed, following distance, and driver attention all play a significant part in whether a vehicle can stop safely before reaching the car or truck ahead.
Seat belt use is one of the most effective ways to reduce injury in these situations. Missouri law requires all front-seat occupants to wear a seat belt, and studies consistently show that unbelted occupants face a much higher risk of serious harm. In rear-end collisions involving large commercial trucks, the size and weight differences between vehicles can make injuries to the occupants of the smaller vehicle significantly worse.
