What Factors Often Contribute to Nighttime Two-Vehicle Crashes?
Nighttime crashes often present unique challenges that can increase the risk of collisions. Reduced visibility is one of the primary factors, making it harder for drivers to see other vehicles, road signs, or hazards in time to react.
Fatigue can also play a significant role, as drivers may be less alert and slower to respond to changing traffic conditions. Additionally, glare from headlights or poor lighting along roadways can further complicate a driver’s ability to judge distances and speeds.
Intersections and multi-lane roads at night require extra caution, as drivers may misinterpret another vehicle’s movements. Staying attentive, reducing speed, and ensuring proper use of headlights are key steps in minimizing the risk of nighttime crashes.
