DeKalb County, IL (May 1, 2026) – Six people, including three juveniles, were hospitalized following a two-vehicle rollover crash Thursday afternoon in Kingston.
According to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred shortly after 4:00 p.m. at the intersection of Pleasant Hill Road and Base Line Road. Deputies responded to reports of a collision involving injuries.
Investigators determined that a white Chevrolet Silverado, driven by 72-year-old Douglas Corson, was traveling southbound and failed to yield at a stop sign. The truck was then struck on the passenger side by a gray Chevrolet Tahoe traveling westbound through the intersection, driven by 39-year-old Tiffany Aicher. The impact caused significant damage and resulted in a rollover. Both vehicles sustained disabling damage and were later towed from the scene.
Corson had one passenger, identified as 44-year-old Marcus A. Corson. Aicher was traveling with three juvenile passengers. All six افراد involved in the crash were transported to Kishwaukee Hospital with injuries that were reported as non-life-threatening. Authorities confirmed that Douglas Corson was cited for failure to yield at a stop intersection. The crash remains under investigation.
We wish a full recovery to all those injured.
Why Do Failure-to-Yield Crashes at Intersections Lead to Serious Collisions?
Intersections are one of the most common locations for serious crashes, especially when a driver fails to yield the right of way. When one vehicle enters an intersection without stopping or properly checking for cross traffic, it can result in high-impact side collisions, often referred to as “T-bone” crashes.
These types of crashes are particularly dangerous because the sides of vehicles offer less protection than the front or rear. In some cases, the force of impact can cause vehicles to spin or roll over, increasing the risk of injuries.
Drivers can reduce the likelihood of these collisions by obeying all traffic signs, coming to complete stops, and carefully checking for oncoming vehicles before proceeding through intersections.
