The Dangers of Early Morning Pedestrian Crashes on Rural Roads
Pedestrian crashes that occur in low-light hours, such as early morning, carry a higher risk of severe or fatal injuries. Reduced visibility can make it harder for drivers to spot people on or near the roadway, especially in rural areas without strong street lighting.
Roads like Huron Road may have higher speed limits and limited sidewalks, which can increase danger when pedestrians are near traffic lanes. Even brief moments of distraction or delayed reaction time can lead to serious collisions.
Investigators typically review lighting conditions, driver speed, and roadway layout when examining these incidents. These details help clarify how the crash occurred and whether environmental factors played a role.
