How Multi-Vehicle Crashes Impact Highway Traffic Flow
Arterial routes, such as Interstate 355 near Lake Street, often carry steady traffic throughout the day. When an injury crash occurs in Addison, responders may limit lane access to maintain safety at the scene.
Multi-vehicle crashes can develop quickly, especially during busy travel times when vehicles are following closely. A single sudden stop or lane change can trigger a chain reaction involving multiple cars.
Lane closures on highways can cause traffic to back up quickly. Even partial closures can significantly reduce traffic speed, leading to longer delays as vehicles navigate through the affected area.
