Beaufort, SC (August 6, 2026) – An adult and a child were hurt after a house fire on Tuesday afternoon, August 4, on Washington Street in downtown Beaufort.
The fire was reported around 2:30 p.m. at a residence on Washington Street. Emergency units arrived and found heavy smoke coming from the front entrance, then entered the home and extinguished the flames.
Both occupants inside the residence were taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening smoke inhalation. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
