What Factors Are Common in Head-On Crashes at Intersections?
Head-on crashes at intersections often occur when a driver crosses into an opposing lane or misjudges another vehicle’s position while turning. These errors can happen quickly, leaving little time to react.
Intersection layout can also contribute, especially in areas where multiple traffic directions meet. Confusing right-of-way situations may increase the risk of making incorrect turns or entering the wrong lane.
Speed and distraction are additional factors that can reduce a driver’s ability to respond in time. In some cases, poor visibility or timing at intersections may also contribute to these crashes.
