What Investigators Review in Pedestrian Highway Crashes
When a pedestrian is struck on a high-speed roadway like an interstate, investigators focus on visibility, roadway access points, and vehicle movement leading up to the impact. Lighting conditions and traffic flow are also reviewed to understand how the situation developed.
Interstate crashes often require coordinated response efforts due to lane closures and high traffic volume. Investigators may use roadway markings, vehicle positions, and nearby surveillance to reconstruct the sequence of events.
These investigations take time, especially when incidents occur in the early morning hours with limited visibility or witness information available.
