Why Large Truck Crashes Can Lead to Serious Injuries
Crashes involving dump trucks and passenger cars can be severe because of the size and weight difference between the vehicles. A smaller car may absorb much more force during impact, especially near an intersection or during morning travel.
Emergency units may need extra time to reach people inside damaged vehicles. Rescue work can involve stabilizing the vehicle, creating safe access, and removing damaged parts before a person can be moved.
These crashes can also affect traffic flow because larger vehicles take up more space at the scene. Lane closures or delays may happen while crews clear debris, check for hazards, and make the area safe for other drivers.
