Alvaton, KY (January 12, 2026) – A black SUV carrying four children ran off the roadway and struck a tree near the 18.4 mile marker of I-65 South on January 10, prompting an urgent response from EMS, Kentucky State Police, and local Alvaton crews.
Initial reports indicated the vehicle hydroplaned before veering off the highway and colliding with a tree, which subsequently fell onto the SUV. Emergency personnel arrived to find the vehicle damaged and the occupants in need of assistance. At least some of the individuals inside were reported injured, though the extent of those injuries has not been publicly confirmed.
Given the involvement of multiple children, EMS teams worked quickly to assess and stabilize the scene. Crews remained on site to manage safety conditions, as the fallen tree presented additional hazards to responders and traffic in the area.
KSP continues to investigate the cause of the crash, including whether weather and road conditions played a direct role.
Our thoughts are with the children and others involved, and we hope for their full and speedy recovery.
