American Fork, UT (January 24, 2026) – Emergency responders were called to the scene of a vehicle accident with injuries on January 22 along southbound I-15 near American Fork. The crash involved a gray Mazda CX-5, and one of the occupants—a 21-year-old female—sustained a head injury after reportedly striking the headrest during the collision.
Crews from fire and EMS teams arrived quickly to assess the scene, finding the woman alert and conscious. She was treated for her injuries at the scene, and additional support was provided by Utah Highway Patrol units. The incident appeared to involve multiple vehicles and generated some confusion around nearby businesses, including Smoke Taco and Wayback Burger, where some vehicle occupants were seen walking into after the collision.
Witness accounts indicated that the crash may have partially blocked the 278 on-ramp, prompting delays and requiring coordination between multiple agencies. A tow truck was dispatched with a reported 15-minute ETA to assist with vehicle removal.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the events leading up to the crash and whether additional vehicles or parties were involved.
We send our support to the injured driver and hope for her swift and complete recovery.
