What Factors Are Reviewed After a Pedestrian Crash in Amityville?
Pedestrian crashes often lead to a detailed review of roadway layout, lighting, and traffic flow. Intersections like Broadway and Oak St can present visibility challenges, especially during evening hours when foot traffic and turning vehicles share the same space.
Investigators typically examine vehicle turning patterns, crosswalk markings, and signal timing. Street lighting and sightlines may also be reviewed to determine how clearly drivers and pedestrians could see one another at the time of the crash.
In incidents involving buses or other large vehicles, vehicle size and turning radius can become part of the review. These factors can affect how quickly a driver can react and how much of the roadway is visible during a turn. Careful examination of these elements helps build a clearer picture of how pedestrian collisions occur in busy areas.
