How Vehicle Intrusions Into Pedestrian Areas Occur
Incidents where vehicles enter pedestrian zones can happen when drivers lose control or misjudge distances. Areas like school pickup lines can become especially crowded, increasing the risk.
Curbs and barriers are designed to separate vehicles from pedestrians, but they may not always prevent a vehicle from crossing into waiting areas under certain conditions.
Investigations often focus on driver actions, vehicle function, and the environment at the time. These details help determine how the vehicle entered the pedestrian space.
