Antioch, CA (January 27, 2026) – Authorities have confirmed that a teenage girl found dead along L Street in Antioch early Friday morning was the victim of a fatal hit-and-run collision. The Contra Costa County Coroner’s Office identified the deceased as 17-year-old Jeana Flores, a resident of Antioch.
Police were dispatched to the area of L Street between West 18th and West 10th Streets at approximately 3:33 a.m. on January 23 after receiving reports of a body spotted near the roadside. Responding officers located Flores near the Contra Costa County Fairgrounds, deceased and suffering from multiple visible injuries.
Initially treated as a suspicious death, the case took a tragic turn after an autopsy revealed that Flores’ injuries were consistent with being struck by a vehicle. Authorities now believe the teen was the victim of a hit-and-run, and the investigation has been transferred to the Antioch Police Traffic Safety Unit.
As of this report, investigators have not determined why Flores was in the area at that hour, and no witnesses have come forward with direct evidence of a vehicle involved in the crash. Authorities have not yet released information about a possible suspect vehicle.
The investigation remains ongoing, and police are urging anyone who may have been in the area during the early morning hours of January 23 or who may have dashcam footage or relevant information to contact the Antioch Police Department.
Our hearts go out to the family and friends of Jeana Flores during this difficult time. We hope those responsible are identified swiftly and brought to justice.
