Arabi, LA (January 20, 2026) – Louisiana State Police are investigating a deadly pedestrian accident that occurred late on January 18 along LA-39 near Rowley Blvd in St. Bernard Parish. The crash claimed the life of a 43-year-old woman from Arabi.
The collision occurred just after 11:30 p.m. as the woman was walking north on Rowley Blvd and attempted to cross LA-39 within a marked crosswalk. She was struck by a 2015 Dodge Caravan that was traveling west through the intersection under a green traffic signal.
Emergency medical personnel transported the woman to a nearby hospital, where she later died from her injuries. Her identity has not yet been publicly released.
Authorities stated that the driver of the Dodge Caravan is not suspected of impairment at this time. However, standard toxicology testing was conducted in accordance with investigative procedures.
The scene was secured by state troopers as they began reconstructing the incident to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the fatal crash. No charges have been announced as the investigation remains ongoing.
