How Entrapment Happens in Two-Vehicle Crashes
Entrapment can occur when a vehicle’s structure is damaged during a crash, making it difficult for occupants to exit on their own. This is more likely in collisions involving significant impact to the front or side of a vehicle.
When people are trapped, emergency crews use specialized tools to cut through parts of the vehicle. The goal is to create enough space to safely remove occupants without causing further harm.
Injury severity in these situations can vary widely. Some individuals may only have minor injuries, while others may face more serious conditions depending on the force of the crash and where they were seated.
