ARVIN, Kern County, Calif., Nov. 2, 2026 — Three children were reportedly hurt on Saturday evening, October 31, in a crash involving three vehicles near Comanche Drive and Sunset Boulevard in Arvin, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The collision was reported just north of that intersection and involved a pickup truck, a sedan and a third vehicle, the CHP said. Dispatch logs described a black pickup, a Honda and an additional vehicle, and separately listed a red Ford F150 against a blue sedan and a gray Nissan truck, suggesting the crash may have involved vehicles arriving in stages. Investigators have not clarified how many vehicles were ultimately confirmed at the scene.
A caller told dispatchers two vehicles had crashed in front of her residence, with occupants out of their vehicles before a third vehicle was reported near a gate close by. Three children, ages 8, 9 and 1, were reportedly among those involved, and the CHP said the 9 year old was crying with injuries not yet known at the time emergency crews were sent. An ambulance was requested for at least one juvenile, and the CHP log noted the incident had progressed from a report of unknown injuries to one confirming that medical response was en route.
Tow trucks were called to clear multiple vehicles from the scene, including a blue Kia sedan that sustained major rear end damage. The crash remains under investigation, and officials have not released further details on the extent of injuries or any possible cause.
We wish the injured a complete and speedy recovery.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why are multi-vehicle crashes harder to investigate than two-car wrecks?
Investigators have to sort out the order in which vehicles collided, since damage patterns and witness accounts can conflict when three or more cars are involved. That process usually takes longer than a standard two-vehicle crash report.
What typically causes a chain-reaction crash like this one?
These crashes commonly start with one vehicle stopping or slowing unexpectedly, followed by following vehicles unable to stop in time. Factors like following distance, speed and driver attention frequently play a role, though a specific cause here has not been confirmed.
What should drivers do if they come upon a multi-vehicle crash scene?
Slow down well before reaching the scene, watch for people who may be out of their vehicles, and make sure to leave room for emergency crews and tow trucks to work.
