Why Pedestrian Crashes Are More Likely at Night
Pedestrian crashes often happen after dark due to reduced visibility. Drivers may have a harder time seeing someone walking along or crossing the road, especially in areas without strong lighting.
Headlights, shadows, and glare from other vehicles can also affect how clearly a person is seen. Dark clothing can make pedestrians even less visible in these conditions.
Road design may also play a part. Areas without sidewalks, marked crossings, or proper lighting can increase the risk for people on foot. Staying alert and improving visibility can help lower the chance of these incidents during nighttime hours.
