Why Motorcycle Collisions with Trucks Are Particularly Dangerous
Collisions between motorcycles and large trucks are especially hazardous due to the size and weight difference. Motorcycles provide minimal protection, so rear-end impacts with a tractor-trailer often result in severe or fatal injuries.
Motorcycle riders are more vulnerable than other drivers because they lack seatbelts, airbags, or the protective frame of a car. Even at moderate speeds, sudden stops or limited reaction time can make these crashes deadly.
Investigators often review witness accounts, dash-cam footage, and roadway evidence to determine how such collisions occur. Awareness, maintaining a safe following distance, and cautious maneuvering around trucks are key to reducing the risk of serious crashes.
