How Driveway Pull-Out Crashes Commonly Occur
Collisions like this often happen when a vehicle attempts to enter a highway or main road from a driveway or side access point. Drivers may misjudge speed, distance, or gaps in oncoming traffic, especially on rural roads where vehicles can approach quickly.
Even when visibility seems clear, changing terrain, parked vehicles, or roadside structures can limit sightlines. Investigators typically review roadway layout, vehicle speeds, and point of impact to determine how these crashes occur. Rural highways such as Route 14A can present added risks due to higher travel speeds and frequent private driveway access.
