What Happens After a Multi-Vehicle Crash With Serious Injuries?
After a serious roadway crash involving multiple vehicles, investigators typically begin by documenting the scene and identifying how each vehicle was positioned at the time of impact. This includes examining roadway markings, vehicle damage, and any evidence of sudden braking or swerving.
Medical response records are also reviewed to assess the severity of injuries and the speed of victims’ transport for treatment. In incidents involving vehicle entrapment, responders often assess how occupants were freed and whether structural damage contributed to delays in rescue efforts.
Traffic flow and road closure timelines are also recorded to understand how the incident affected the surrounding area. Investigators may later use this information, along with witness accounts, to reconstruct the sequence of events leading up to the crash.
