Scooter and Pedestrian-Related Crash Safety and Awareness
Crashes involving scooters and smaller motorized vehicles can lead to severe injuries because riders have very limited protection during an impact. Drivers are encouraged to remain alert for scooters, bicycles, and pedestrians, especially along busy roadways and near intersections.
Reduced visibility, distracted driving, and sudden vehicle movements are common contributing factors in collisions involving vulnerable roadway users. Maintaining safe speeds and checking carefully before turning or changing lanes can help prevent serious accidents.
Authorities also remind motorists to use caution when approaching active crash scenes and to follow traffic directions from emergency responders working in the area. The Bellingham Police Department continues to investigate the collision.
