What Can Lead to Deadly Collisions on Rural Highways
Rural highways often have fewer lanes and higher speed limits, which can increase the severity of crashes. When vehicles traveling in the same direction come into conflict, the impact can be serious.
Limited lighting and long stretches of road may also affect how quickly drivers can react to changing conditions. Even small timing differences between vehicles can result in collisions.
Staying alert and maintaining awareness of surrounding traffic can help reduce the chances of serious crashes on these types of roadways.
