What Factors Are Often Reviewed in Fatal Pedestrian Crashes?
Fatal crashes involving pedestrians often occur during overnight or early morning hours when visibility is reduced. Low-light conditions can make it harder for drivers to see people in the roadway, especially on highways with higher speed limits.
Road design and lighting are often examined in these cases. Investigators may also look at whether the area had marked crossings or shoulders that could affect where a person was walking.
Vehicle damage, debris patterns, and the position of the victim can help piece together how the collision happened. In hit-and-run cases, locating the involved vehicle becomes a key part of the process.
