The collision was reported at approximately 7:37 p.m. According to police, the bicyclist was riding westbound on Mingo Road just left of the edge line when a vehicle struck the rear tire of the bicycle, causing the rider to fall. The bicyclist remained conscious and was taken to a hospital for further evaluation.
The rider told investigators the vehicle did not stop after the collision, but said it was unclear whether the driver realized contact had been made. He also stated he did not wish to pursue hit-and-run charges and believed the rainy weather may have contributed to what happened. The department’s traffic unit will continue reviewing the crash. The investigation into the collision remains ongoing as additional information is gathered.
