What Is Typically Examined After a Head-On Crash on Rural Highways
Head-on crashes are among the most serious types of roadway accidents because both vehicles often collide at full traveling speed. On rural highways, these incidents sometimes occur when a vehicle crosses the center line or enters an opposing lane.
Investigators usually review several factors when examining this type of crash. Roadway layout, lane markings, and visibility conditions can provide helpful context about how the collision may have occurred.
Vehicle damage and final resting positions also offer clues about the direction and angle of impact. In addition, seat belt use and airbag deployment can help explain injury outcomes.
Weather conditions, traffic patterns, and the presence of curves or hills along the roadway may also be reviewed. These details can help clarify the sequence of events that led to a head-on collision.
