Boca Raton, FL (January 22, 2026) – Authorities are investigating a hit-and-run accident that resulted in injuries Thursday morning on the southbound side of I-95, just north of Palmetto Park Rd near mile marker 44 in Palm Beach County.
The crash occurred around 9:40 a.m. and involved at least one vehicle fleeing the scene after the collision. Emergency medical teams responded quickly and treated the injured at the location. The total number of victims and the extent of injuries have not yet been released.
Despite the serious nature of the incident, no roadblocks were reported. Traffic continued to flow, although delays were noted as responders worked along the shoulder and median area to render aid and assess the situation.
The suspect driver remains at large, and law enforcement has launched an active investigation to locate the vehicle involved. It is unclear at this time what led to the collision, but investigators are reviewing nearby surveillance footage and witness statements.
The stretch of I-95 where the incident occurred is one of the busiest in Boca Raton, particularly during the morning commute, raising further concerns about the dangers of reckless driving and leaving the scene of an accident.
We extend our deepest concern to those injured in this crash and hope for their full recovery as the investigation continues.
