Frequently Asked Questions
Does weather or road condition play a role in crashes like this? Rain, glare, and poor visibility can make it harder for drivers to see pedestrians in crosswalks, even in daylight, so conditions are often reviewed as part of a crash investigation.
Where do most pedestrian crashes happen? A large share occur at or near intersections and marked crosswalks, often during times when foot traffic is heavy, such as school arrival and dismissal.
What can drivers do around school zones? Slow down, scan both sides of the road before entering an intersection, and put phones away, especially near school zones where students are walking or biking.
