Frequently Asked Questions
What injuries are most common in pedestrian accidents?
Pedestrians struck by vehicles often suffer leg and hip fractures, head injuries, and soft tissue trauma, since there is little protecting them from the impact or the fall that follows.
What are the most common causes of pedestrian accidents?
Distracted or inattentive driving, failure to yield at crossings or driveways, and poor visibility (at dusk, night, or in bad weather) are frequent factors in these collisions.
How does vehicle speed affect pedestrian survival?
Lower speeds give drivers more time to stop and reduce the force of impact if a crash does happen, which generally means less severe injuries for the person struck.
Where do most pedestrian accidents happen?
Many occur near intersections, parking lots, bus stops, and other spots where people on foot and vehicles share close space, especially where sightlines are limited.
What to Do After a Pedestrian Accident in Marysville, CA
If you witness or are involved in a pedestrian crash, call 911 right away so medical help can reach the scene quickly. Even if injuries seem minor at first, it's worth getting checked by a medical professional, since some injuries like concussions or internal bruising aren't obvious right away. Try to note details that might help authorities, such as the direction a vehicle was traveling or any distinguishing features, especially in a hit and run situation. Make sure to exchange information with any other witnesses if it's safe to do so, and cooperate with responding officers so they can document the scene accurately. Remember to keep a copy of any police report and follow up with your own medical provider in the days after the crash to track your recovery.
