Why Some Crash Injuries Become Fatal After Hospitalization
In some crashes, injuries may not appear immediately life-threatening but can worsen over time. Internal injuries, such as bleeding or trauma to vital organs, may take hours or days to fully develop, even after a person receives initial medical care.
Older adults can be more vulnerable to complications following a crash. Age-related health factors may affect how the body responds to trauma, which can increase the risk of serious outcomes during recovery.
Medical teams often monitor crash victims closely after hospitalization, especially when there is a risk of delayed complications. The progression of injuries can vary widely, depending on the severity of the impact and the person’s overall health.
