Dothan, AL (July 8, 2026) – A four-vehicle accident with critical injuries was reported on Monday morning, July 6, at Ross Clark Circle and Wesley Way in Dothan. The collision was reported at about 8:44 a.m.

The vehicles were described as a pickup, an SUV, a passenger car, and a box truck. According to the report, the pickup was rear-ended by the SUV, followed by the passenger car, which was then rear-ended by the box truck.

One person was trapped in the vehicle that was hit by the box truck. That patient was freed and brought to Flowers Hospital under a trauma alert.

A second patient was also brought to Flowers Hospital on a non-emergency basis. Northbound traffic on Ross Clark Circle was merged into one lane while crews worked.

The names and ages of those involved were not included in the first report. The wreck remains under review as investigators continue checking the chain of impacts.

We hope both people hurt receive steady care as they recover.

Why Stopping Distance Matters in Chain-Reaction Crashes

Rear-end chain-reaction crashes can become serious because several vehicles may be pushed together in a short time. Each hit can move force through the line of vehicles, increasing the risk for people in the middle or rear vehicles.

Larger vehicles, such as box trucks, may add more force because of their weight and stopping distance. When a passenger car is struck from behind by a heavier vehicle, the damage can trap someone inside or make removal more difficult.

Lane reductions after a multi-vehicle accident can also affect traffic safety. Drivers approaching the blocked lanes may need to slow quickly and merge around emergency units. Later reports may clarify vehicle spacing, speed, and how the first contact began.
