Bridgeport, CT (January 10, 2026) – A serious multi-vehicle crash on January 9 along Route 8 Northbound near the Boston Ave entrance resulted in one person being trapped and later extricated by emergency crews. The incident was reported around 2:42 p.m., with responders confirming that the collision occurred in the right and center lanes just past the Chopsey Hill entrance at exit 3.
Multiple agencies, including Bridgeport Fire Department units, Connecticut State Police, and AMR medics, responded to the scene. Rescue personnel performed a door pop extrication to safely remove one injured individual from a vehicle. That person was then transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. The extent of their injuries has not been publicly confirmed.
Traffic was heavily impacted as emergency vehicles remained on scene to assist and clear the area. Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the crash, which involved several vehicles.
