Jefferson Township, OH (April 25, 2026) – A woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash at an intersection on the east side of Franklin County.
The crash happened around 5:50 a.m. on Thursday, April 23, at Havens Corners Road and North Waggoner Road. According to officials, a 2015 Honda Pilot was traveling north on North Waggoner Road when it collided with a 2015 Acura TLX at the intersection.
After impact, both vehicles left the roadway and went off the northwest side of the intersection. The Acura struck a power pole, breaking it, and the pole then fell onto the Honda, bringing live wires down onto the vehicle.
The driver of the Honda was identified as 43-year-old Lakesha Marbury. She was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 6:55 a.m. The driver of the Acura was transported to Mount Carmel East Hospital and was reported to be in stable condition.
The incident remains under review by authorities.
We extend our sincere condolences to the family of Lakesha Marbury.
Why Intersection Crashes With Utility Pole Impacts Can Be Especially Dangerous
Crashes at intersections can become more severe when vehicles leave the roadway and strike fixed objects such as utility poles. The sudden change in direction after impact can increase the risk of secondary collisions or rollovers.
When a power pole is damaged, downed lines can create additional hazards at the scene, including electrical risks that require emergency crews to secure the area before approaching vehicles.
Highway and intersection design, visibility, and driver timing all play roles in how these crashes occur. Early morning conditions can also reduce visibility and reaction time for drivers traveling through intersections.
