What Happens After a Pedestrian Crash on a Highway?
When a pedestrian is struck on a highway, emergency crews first focus on securing the roadway and providing medical attention. High-speed environments often require temporary lane closures to protect responders and prevent further incidents.
Investigators typically examine vehicle speed, lighting conditions, and pedestrian movement to determine how the crash occurred. Skid marks, roadway design, and visibility can also help reconstruct the event.
Highways pose greater danger to pedestrians due to fast-moving traffic and limited safe crossing points. Even brief exposure to oncoming vehicles can result in severe or fatal outcomes, especially during early morning hours with reduced visibility.
