Brimfield Twp, OH (February 2, 2026) – An accident involving a small aircraft left two people with a variety of injuries on Sunday afternoon in Brimfield Township, according to local officials. The incident was reported at approximately 2:30 p.m. near the 3200 block of Ranfield Rd in Portage County.
Information released by the Brimfield Fire Department indicates that the aircraft experienced a sudden loss of power before going down in a wooded area just west of Route 44. The crash site was located off the roadway, requiring responding crews to access the area carefully.
Fire crews from Brimfield, along with local law enforcement and the Portage County Sheriff’s Office, arrived on scene to assist. Paramedics evaluated both occupants of the plane, who were found to be suffering from non-life-threatening injuries following the accident. One individual was transported to Akron General Medical for further treatment, while the other was taken to Akron Children’s Hospital for evaluation.
The area was secured while responders ensured there were no additional hazards related to the downed aircraft. The Ohio State Highway Patrol has confirmed that the accident remains under investigation as officials work to determine the full sequence of events.
