Bronx, NY (January 28, 2026) – A tragic incident occurred on Tuesday in the Bedford Park neighborhood of the Bronx, where a person was fatally struck by a train at the Kingsbridge Rd Station on the 4 line. Emergency crews were dispatched to the scene shortly after the incident was reported and confirmed the fatality upon arrival.
Subway service was temporarily suspended in both directions while NYPD, FDNY, and MTA officials responded to the scene. Transit personnel worked to secure the area, assist with recovery operations, and begin an investigation into the circumstances of the fatal strike.
Authorities have not yet released the identity of the individual involved, and it is unclear how the person came to be on the tracks. Investigators are reviewing station surveillance footage and speaking with witnesses as part of the ongoing inquiry.
The MTA restored limited service after the area was cleared, though riders experienced significant delays throughout the evening.
